H2-plasma smelting reduction experiments at Montanuniversität Leoben

Last week at the Montanuniversität Leoben, we started with several H2-plasma smelting reduction experiments, followed by a two-day PlasmArc4Green kick-off meeting. It’s truly great to see how our H2-plasma projects synergize with each other.

We’ll definitely going for a close collaboration between H2PlasmaRed Horizon Europe and HELIOS – Horizon Europe MSCA DN!

“From 9 to 10 October 2024, K1-MET GmbH had the honor of hosting the first in-person meeting of the PlasmArc4Green Module at Montanuniversitaet Leoben (MUL).

The gathering served as an exciting platform for engaging discussions and knowledge exchange between research and industry leaders. The talks covered a broad range of key topics, including the comparison of hydrogen-based processes to traditional blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace methods, data management, and the simulation, modelling, and monitoring of plasma and arc-based processes – all aimed at advancing greener metal production technologies.

The PlasmArc4Green COMET Module’s core objective is to develop advanced numerical modelling and experimental monitoring tools that enable more accurate performance predictions for plasma-based metal production processes. This is a crucial step toward improving process efficiency, sustainability, and environmental responsibility in the metal industry.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our partners for their active participation, insightful contributions, and dedication to our shared vision for a greener future in metal production.”
